After his resignation from the government, following the Dardanelles debacle, Winston rejoined the Army and was appointed Commanding Officer of the 6^th Btn. Royal Scots Fusiliers in France.

Here he is shown wearing a French “Adrian” type steel helmet along with the Scottish style military jacket and jodhpurs and puttees.
